Public Viewing of Exhibition: Every Saturday from 10-3 PM at the Center for Photography at Madison.

This unique photographic exhibition captures the energy and spirit of the iconic, and ongoing, chapter of Wisconsin's history. As protesters marched in, and around, the Capitol building, photographers from every walk of life were there to capture the dynamic unfolding of events.

Opening on July 7 at 7 pm, plan for an evening of discussion, stories, and thought provoking images as 28 area artists share their experiences behind, and in front of, their cameras. This exhibition includes a range of human interest images related to the recent protest events, from the blatant to the subtle, from the somber to the humorous, and from the emotional to the contemplative.

"Signs of Protest" images have been chosen by a three member jury based on photographic merits, and include both black and white and color images. Special recognition has been given to four of the images, considered the Jury's top picks.

A public opening reception Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 7 pm at The Center for Photography at Madison's Gallery will open the exhibition, which will continue to be open to the public Saturdays 10 am – 3 pm through August 27, 2011. The CPM Gallery is located at 303 South Patterson Street, Madison, WI 53703.

The Center for Photography at Madison (CPM) was founded in 1998 to provide a home for the advancement of photography in and around Madison, Wisconsin. CPM is a volunteer organization that provides a rich mix of education programs, including formal classes and workshops, lectures (including Photographer of the Month and Third Thursday Special Topic lectures every month), juried and open member exhibitions, and a series of regular interest group meetings covering all aspects of photography.

This exhibition would not be possible without the support of the entire CPM Board and Membership, and most importantly the CPM artists who contributed their works to this special exhibition.
